Free Bobble Helmet Pattern

I had this pattern posted on my old blog and forgot to repost it for the people looking for it through ravelry. Enjoy!








Bobble Helmet

(US Stitch Version)


MATERIALS

Small/Medium – H hook.

Regular/Large – J hook.

Use Red heart 4-ply yarn or other worsted weight/aran yarn.


US to UK Stitch Conversion

SC (single crochet) = DC (double crochet)

DC (double crochet)= TR (treble)


SPECIAL STITCHES


5-dc Bobble

*Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, draw loop through st, draw

through 2 loops on hook*, repeat this 4 times more, You should have 6

sts on hook. Draw yarn through all 6 sts and ch 1. 1 5-dc bobble made.


Double Treble (DTR)

Step 1: Yarn over three times, then insert hook into next stitch.

Step 2: Yarn over hook and draw yarn through stitch (there are five

loops on the hook).

Step 3: *Yarn over and draw through two loops on hook* (there are

now four loops remaining on the hook). repeat from * to * 3 more

times. This completes one double treble crochet stitch.


Pattern:

1.) Magic loop method, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join. (12)

2.) Ch 3, turn, 1 5-dc bobble in next st, *1 dc in next st, 1 5-dc bobble in next st*, continue around. Join with sl st to top of 1st dc. (18)

3.) Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in same st, 2 sc in each st around, ending with 1 sc in last st. Join with slst to 1st sc. (36)

4.) Ch 3, 1 5-dc bobble in next st, *sk next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 5-dc bobble in next st*, around, ending with bobble. Join with slst to top of ch 3. (36)

5.) Ch 1, turn, 1 dc in same st, *2 dc's in next st, 1 dc in next st*, around to end. Slst to 1st dc. (54)

6.) Ch 3, turn, 1 5-dc bobble in next st, *sk next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 5-dc bobble in next st*, around, ending with bobble. Slst to top of ch 3. (54)

7.) Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and in each st around, Slst to 1st sc. (54)

8.) Ch 1, turn, sk next st, 1 dc in next st, *1 5-dc bobble in next st, sk next st, 1 dc in next st*, around, ending with bobble st. Slst to top of ch 1. (54)

9.) Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in same st and in each st around. Slst to 1st sc. (54)

10.) Ch 1, turn, sk next st, 1 dc in next st, *5-dc bobble in next st, sk next st, 1dc in next st*, around, ending with bobble st. Slst to top of ch 1. (54)

11.) Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in next st and in each st around, continue to end. Slst to 1st sc. (54)

12.) Ch 1, turn, sk next st, *1 dc in next st, 5-dc bobble in next st, sk next st*, around, ending with bobble st, slst to top of 1st dc. (54)

13.) Ch 1, sc in next st, 1 sc in each st around. Slst to 1st sc. (54)

14.) Ch 1, turn, sk next st, *dc in next st, 5-dc bobble in next st, sk next st, 1 dc in next st*, around, ending with bobble st. Slst to top of ch 3. (54)

15.) Ch 1, sc in next st, 1 sc in each st to end. (54)

16.) Ch 1, turn, sk next st, *dc in next st, 5-dc bobble in next st, sk next st*, around, ending with bobble st. (54)

17.) Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, 1 sc in each of the next 4 st, 1 dc in each of the next 12 st, 1 sc in each of the next 20 st, 1 dc in each of the next 12 st, 1 sc in each of the next 5 st. Slst to 1st sc. (54)

18-19.) Repeat row 17 two times more without turning at the end of the rows. (54)

20.) Ch 1, sc in same st and in each around. Slst to 1st sc.

Finish off and weave in ends.

15.) 1 ch, dc in next st, 1 dc in each st to end. (54)

16.) 1 ch, turn, sk next st, *tr in next st, 5tr bobble in next st, sk next st*, around, ending with bobble st. (54)

17.) 1 ch, turn, dc in same st, 1 dc in next 4 st, 1 tr in next 12 st, 1 dc in next 20 st, 1 tr in next 12 st, 1 dc in next 5 st. Slst to 1st dc. (54)

18-19.) Repeat row 17 two times more without turning at the end of the rows. (54)

20.) 1 ch, dc in same st and in each around. Slst to 1st dc.

Thanks Arlene, you could if you tried. :-) It's easy once you learn what all the abbreviations mean. How are you doing with the knitting patterns?

Thanks Karen! Well I wanted to have atleast a few nice free patterns as well as ones for sale. What's funny, I didn't even think anyone would like it. Fooled me! lol

This is one of your "good" patterns that you should have kept for sale. Give the plainer patterns for free ;)
I love the bobbles on this as I don't suit the flat hair look that you sometimes get with crochet/knit hats.
